What is better than an ice cold, tangy Margarita? A Margarita dipped in hundreds and thousands, obviously.
What is better than a classic, satisfyingly sweet rum, pineapple and coconut cocktail? One that is served in a glass shaped like a naked lady, obviously.
Oh and what do you really want when you’re in an island beached themed bar? A cocktail served inside an inflatable pink flamingo, obviously!
Coco’s Leeds is a brand new ‘island getaway’ hidden beach bar, in the heart of a shopping centre, woud you believe.
Its location is actually ideal for Friday night, end of the week drinks (working in PR I often celebrate even reaching Friday and not having a nervous breakdown by Wednesday morning) and what is even more convenient, is the fact that all cocktails are £6, all of the time.
Whilst many cocktail bars and restaurants in Leeds do have happy hour deals and post work offers, drinks at Coco’s are always a nice price. Plus, what other cocktail bars don’t offer is the novelty of feeling like you’re actually in a beach hut on a Caribbean island (just don’t look out the window and see all of the shoppers walking past).
The reasonably priced drinks makes it the perfect place, I think, for a few celebratory Friday cocktails to start your evening before hitting the town, going to the theatre, or however else you’d spend your Friday. Hence the strap line ‘but first Coco’s.
As well as insane cocktails, Coco’s also serves up some great small plate/sharing dishes to accompany. Again, all priced at around £6, there’s the usual sharing suspects – nachos, guac and corn chips and calamari. Then there’s various burgers, tacos and chicken wings with your choice of sauce. Both the burger and taco list includes fish, meat and veggie options and I thought admiringly fun and appropriately ‘beach themed’ flavours; Baja crispy cod burger, spicy pulled chicken taco, and panko avocado and red onion taco.
For those who get as excited about cheese as I do, there’s also halloumi fries, yep £5 sharing halloumi fries! My friend and I devoured a plate of these whilst sipping on our naked ladies and I’m sure she would agree, we could have definitely had a plate each.
Coco’s is actually a hidden beach bar inside Cabana restaurant in Leeds Trinity. If you’re looking for an affordable, fun, casual bar then hit up Coco’s. If nothing else, your Instagram feed is crying out for that inflatable flamingo…
